The Peer-Set Construction Playbook turns an ad-hoc list of comparable companies into a documented, defensible peer group a comp committee can't wave away. A PDF methodology guide walks you through the four load-bearing screens — size band, sector (SIC/NAICS), region, and ownership type — and the companion Excel worksheet gives you a reusable Peer-Set Definition schema, a candidate-screening grid, and a rationale log that records why each filer is in or out. Comparables are sourced only from public SEC DEF 14A proxies and IRS Form 990 filings; private-company CEO pay is not disclosed anywhere and is out of scope. Every peer, threshold, and score is the one you enter — the workbook asserts no benchmark of its own.
